The CAx-IF User Group is composed of industry representatives that have CAx interoperability requirements and are interested in accelerating STEP AP242 translator development, quality and availability.Participants of the User Group are:

What the CAx-IF User Group does
The User Group is responsible for:
- Developing business requirements & use cases: Description of the user needs. For the collaboration with the implementor group, the user needs are broken down into backlog items according to the SAFe Requirements Model
- Providing test cases,
- Making proposals for the recommended practices,
- Creating validation requirements,
- Establishing interoperability usage guidelines.
Technical scope
- Initial Technical scope, subject to user group inputs:
- 3D geometry,
- PMI (part and assembly levels), graphic and semantic representation,
- Composites,
- Additive manufacturing,
- Kinematics,
- Assemblies and installation
- Potential extensions, according to resources
- Manufacturing and inspection
- Other technical disciplines such as Tubing, Forging , 3D scan, sheet metal, etc.

The CAx IF user group holds teleconferences every 2 weeks and Workshops every 6 months (March, September)
